Why bad breath and bleeding gums?
Bad breath can stem from multiple factors and, at times, can be linked to bleeding gums. Bleeding gums can be framed alongside parenting, being comparable to toddlers tugging at their mother’s skirt. Bleeding gums and bad breath are a call sign from the body that resembles tugging at clothes for attention – the body is desperate for attention. The notion that this cycle can resolve itself does exist, but, in fact, ignoring it will only make matters worse.
In more advanced cases, the gums tend to get first sore and then swollen, which can easily be felt with the tongue. If this condition persists untreated, there are chances of bleeding occurring. Most people who do suffer from bleeding gum, tend to bite the bullet and brush harder expecting the bleeding to ease, which unfortunately for them makes it worse. Brushing too hard or way too frequently comes along with yield worse outcomes than benefit such as receding gums, integration of the gums and teeth disappearing, alongside oral sensitivity.
Over time, a cavity might develop between the gums and teeth which can become filled with bacteria and food particles. For Dr. B Dentistry patients, bacteria and debris that accumulate in this cavity should be removed during a cleaning every six months. Failure to remove such debris can cause the gums to bleed and inflame, a condition known as gingivitis. Gingivitis is relatively mild, and with treatment, reversing the condition is easy. If still left untreated, this condition can rapidly worsen into periodontitis, which makes chewing with teeth very difficult.
